Alix Massieux

I absolutely love Alix Massieux's work! Her designs and creations are ruly inspirational and had no problem catching my eye!
"I graduated with a fashion degree in women’s wear in 2008 from La Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne in Paris. I then decided to broaden my skills and knowledge by attending Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in order to create fabrics with a fashion application. My work is vibrant and exciting, exploring the relationship between material and colour and emphasizes attention to detail with hand stitch embroidery and finishing techniques. In my research I utilise similar techniques, experimenting with painting and collage. My visualisations often portray simply cut fashion pieces with exquisite and precious fabric. As a designer with a background in both fashion and textiles, I consider the fabric as important as the garment and I intend to explore this relationship further in my future career." -Alix Take a look at her beautiful pieces:

Here are a few art pieces that I have created over the past 2 years!
I had my room re-decorated a couple of years ago and wanted it to really show my love for fabrics, textiles and vintage pieces!
Oh, and during this... I may have developed a slight obsession for cushions! But, 14 is not a lot no? ;)
There are also a couple of my own creations in my room too, such as bunting:
And a handy textile utensil holder..
This photoframe in my room was also a beautiful gift from my friends on my 18th birthday:
Also, my beloved sewing machine!! (which takes pride of place...

Textiles have a strong tradition in Wales, stemming from the strength of the woollen mill industry of the 17th century. The artists featured in this publication and initiatives such as the recently established Contemporary Textile Practice BA at the University of Wales in Cardiff bear witness to the fact that there is today a considerable body of contemporary textile practice of quality in Wales. Cefyn Burgess’ stitched textile collages are influenced by the vernacular architecture of Welsh chapels. Cefyn trained as a weaver and has produced figurative work in weave as well as designs for ceramics and print. In his quest to heighten awareness of Wales’ rich architectural heritage but also of its vulnerability, he has created an impressive narrative of small stitched collages of the chapels found along one of Wales’ arterial routes, a road that runs through the heart of Wales linking the north and south. written by- Philip Hughes
