Moodboards

I love Sallytangle's idea of creating Moodboards. It has given me inspiration to create my own when doing my A-level Textiles work! It will help me keep on track of what is my inspiration, theme, colours... I can't wait to get mood-boarding!

Nahida Mahmood

These designs by Nahida Mahmood are very beautiful.
They are beautiful bright fabrics that have had patterns hand printed onto them.
The patterns look 3D! I love this effect. I have never seen anything like this before. I am inspired to do fabric-printing now after seeing Nahida's work.

Michael Brennard Wood

Stylised Patterns

I have just received my brief on topics I can choose for my Art exam (Unit 4)
The top three topics in my opinion are Stylised patterns, Sculptural pieces and Textiles techniques.
The one that I think I will choose is 'Stylised patterns', there is so much I could do with this topic.
Stylised patterns are Textile pieces often inspired by Natural forms that are developed into stylised patterns such as geometric shapes, diagonal lattices, parallel undulating lines and arabesques.
These patterns are so neat and tidy, I will have to practice stitching in a precise way but I may also experiment with my embroidery techniques and make the stitching look more rustic and rough.
I have looked at appropriate examples to use as inspiration for when I produce my own work.
It is bright, bold and colourfull and really stands out. I want my work to have the same Wow factor!
Which is titled, sunrise. The patterns are really beautiful and look like Indian inspired patterns.
I could also introduce animal prints as they will stand out quite a lot. They will add a natural feel to my work.
These ethnic prints are also really beautiful. Ther is a lot that I could do with these styled patterns.
They look very different to other patterns that I have seen.
The splashes of rich colours also add a luxury sense to them aswell.
